    A class of computer bugs relating to calendar data. Once 2000 finally came, the computers were not set to change their dates to fit the new century. People thought that the computers would crash and the world might end but the problem was fixed my many computer companies.

    The 2000 election implemented new hole puncher voting cards. A person would hole punch the area with their candidate they wanted to vote for but the circle that gets punched out called a chad would sometimes remain on the paper. This chad caused problems for the scanning machines and Florida specifically had to recount.

Bush and worked in the oil industry before becoming a governor of Texas. Al Gore was the vice president of Bill Clinton and an active environmentalist.

    On April 19th, 1995, Timothy McVeigh and his accomplice drove a truck next to a federal building and set off a massive bomb killing 168 people. McVeigh was tried and found guilty and was awarded the death sentence. McVeight died by lethal injection on June 11, 2001.

    On September 11, 2001, the Al Qaeda terrorist group organized a massive terrorist attack. Two planes were flown into the twin tower, while another plane hit the pentagon and one more was headed for the white house but was overtaken by the passengers. This event caused very strict air travel and airport security was increased.

The act stand for Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001. Citizens were concerned about their safety so congress rushed to pass an act that increased security.

    After the 9/11 attacks, the U.S. wanted to find the leader of Al Qaeda (Osama Bin Laden) and kill him. There were many attempts to locate in but after he crossed into Pakistan in 2002 he became increasingly difficult to find. Osama stayed in a variety of safe houses and evaded troops in Pakistani mountains.

    President Bush declared war on "terrorism" and decided to try to help the middle east after 9/1 attacks. US troops invaded Iraq and overthrew the government of Saddam Hussein. Conflict still lingered in Iraq after the capture of Saddam Hussein and troops stayed in Iraq until 2011.

    The capture of Saddam Hussein was known as Operation Red Dawn. Hussein was found in a small town called ad-Dawr and was finally captured after many failed operations. He did not resist capture and was later executed by his former people.

    In the last decade of Ronald Raegan's life he suffered from Alzheimer's disease and died on June 4th, 2004. He was 93 when he died in Bel Air, California. He had services in Santa Monica dn Washington DC.

    After the death of Pope John Paul, the catholic cardinals met at The Vatican and began their private voting. The conclave began on April 18th and ended on April 19th with Joseph Ratzinger becoming the new Pope. He decided his pontifical name would be Benedict XVI.

    Hurricane Katrina was a category 5 tropical storm that was tied as the costliest storm with Hurricane Harvey in history. Once the hurricane hit New Orleans it had flooded 80% of the city and take 1200 to 1800 lives. The property damage from this storm was an estimated 125 billion.

    Hurricane RIta was a category five tropical storm that formed in the Gulf of Mexico. By the time the storm hit land it dropped to a category three hurricane. Houston had to be evacuated and 113 lives were lost and 18.5 billion in damages.
