    Dights falls was a meeting place for tribes and clans they used this place to trade, marriage, dispute resolution and other ceremonies For the Wurrudjeri people

  • Charles Grimes explored the Yarra river

    Charles Grims is believed to be the very first European to explore the Yarra river. He took his survey party for an expadition to the Yarra Falls (Dights falls)

  • Melbourne was settled

    Melbourne settled in 1835, shortly after making its first sale and the land being sub-divided.

  • John Dights Purchased Block 88

    In 1839 John Dights purchased Melbournes block 88 Which included 26 acres of land along the Yarra for £481 at the Port Phillip land sale held in Sydney.

  • John Dights moved to Port Phillip

    John had a flour mill business it had been going very well for the past year so he decided to pack up and move to Port Phillip

  • First steamed flour mill was built

    The very first steamed flour mill was constructed and shortly after they built a water powered mill

  • A wooden weir was built

    In 1895, a wooden weir was constucted.

  • The rock-way weir was built

    In 1993, a rock-way fish way had been built but recently was proven ineffective.

  • A new weir has been built

    In 2010, A new weir was constructed and replaced the old one weir that was ineffected
