Dight used the river to power his mill the water flowed along an inlet that powered the water wheel. -
to maintain the flow of the river or in case the water levels dropped in the river Dight constructed a rough stone weir.

The original mill was not in use until 1888

when flour millers Gillespie, Aitken & Scott started operating under the name 'Yarra falls roller mills' created a new mill & new buildings related to the site.

the mill race was rebuilt and new building related to the property and its uses & then was sold in 1891.

once again it was sold for a final time it had caught on fire and was destroyed.
