Death of A Salesman

  • The birth of Willy Loman

    He is the main character and protagonist of the play. He is a travelling salesman who had grown up in the shadow of his craftsman/salesman father. His father had moved to Alaska. (*See "Willy wishes to visit Alaska")
  • Willy wants to go to Alaska

    Willy wants to visit Alaska because he missed his opportunity to go to Alaska with his brother, Ben Loman, earlier in his life. He had missed the chance of fulfilling his full potential as an aspiring salesman.
  • Willy and Lynda get married

    Lynda-Willy's wife and the mother to Biff and Happy. She is his only link to reality. She loves him and supports him despite his many failures as a salesman and a person. She tries to protect Willy from himself.
  • Birth of Biff Loman

    He is Willy's oldest son and he is his pride and joy. He hopes that one day Biff will follow in his footsteps. Biff is everything that Willy ever aspired to be; he was a star athlete and popular with the girls. Willy looked over his numerous thefts as he was a town hero. He never graduated from high-school and he couldn't hold down a job. He is a failure in the eyes of his father.
  • Birth of Happy Loman

    Happy was his youngest son. He was often ignored and over looked in comparison to his brother, during his youth. He ends up making it further than his brother.
  • Willy cheats on Lynda

    After Willy sustains a job at The Wagner Company and settles in with his wife, he cheats on Lynda. This event is witnessed in a hotel room by Biff. This rendered their rocky relationship ever the more instable.
