Your caterpillars will arrive in a small cup with food in the bottom for them to eat.

As the caterpillar eats it gains nutrients and grows at a rapid pace

Once the caterpillar is full grown it will move up to the top of the cup. Here it hangs upside down, forms a hook in the shape of a J, sheds its last layer of skin and forms a chrysalis.

The caterpillar is now changing inside the chrysalis. When he emerges he will no longer be a caterpillar.

The butterfly begins to come out of the chrysalis.

The butterfly stays still and lets its wings dry. It takes several hours before it can fly.
