Daniel Dennett completed his doctorate degree and was a professor at the University of Tufts, in Massachusetts. Dennett was also the co-director of the Center for Cognitive Studies, the Austin B. Fletcher Professor of Philosophy. Dent's first publication, in 1978, was “Brainstorms: Philosophical Essays on Mind and Psychology.” Dennett pioneered bold and unique perspectives on life and reality. Dennett uniquely compared artificial intelligence to a human's conscious mind. -

Here, Daniel Dennett described free will, and why humans value the thought of free will. Dennett described the appearance of free will in comparison to the biological studies of other animals, such as wasps. Dennett explained that digger wasps have genetically mandated procedures for preparing for egg laying. When the wasp is interrupted at any step, it will repeat that step. The wasp will continue to repeat that step indefinitely. -

Dennett believed Darwinism challenged the foundation of what many considered to be the "meaning of life" or faith. Dennett explained that it can be a difficult to conceive that the mind has continuously evolved, while it is the basis for all of our knowledge.
