    President Kennedy decided to "quaratine" of Cuba by the U.S. Navy so no more shipments of military supplies will be sent to the island.
  • Kennedy's Speech

    Kennedy had a speech announcing that the Soviets had nuclear missiles in Cuba and that he quarantined the island.
  • Castro's Sodiers

    Castro had 270,000 Cuban sodiers ready for an invasion.
  • Khrushchev's Threats

    Khrushchev was angry and said that the quarantine of Cuba was a violation of international law. He stated that the missiles in Cuba were for defence and that the military aggression could lead towards a nuclear war.
  • Quaratine Went into Effect

    Naval quarantine went into effect andSoviet ships were racing to the quarantine line. If the Soviets weren't let through, they threatened to sink U.S. vessels.
  • Soviet Ships Retreat

    At least a dozen Soviet ships turned back but the preperations of the missiles on the island increased.
  • Khrushchev's First Letter

    Krushchev wrote a letter to Kennedy to aviod a nuclear war. He said that he would remove the missiles from Cuba if the U.S. would not invade the island
  • Khrushchev's Second Letter

    In a second letter, Krushchev demanded that the U.S. removes their missiles from Turkey.
    Kennedy responded to the first letter saying that he won't invade Cuba and that he will remove the quaritine if the Soviets removed the missiles.
  • Castro's Demand

    Castro expected that the U.S. would attack in a couple of days and called Khrushchev to launch the nuclear missiles.
  • Soviets Agree

    Soviets agreed to removing the missiles if the United States wouldn't invade Cuba.
