Crabbe planning his escape to run away
Crabbe is planning his escape to run away from home. He doesn't want anything to do with anyone, so he's planning to run away without leaving a trace of where to find him. Crabbe slowly collects supplies over the course of a couple days so, he can begin preparing. -
Crabbe gets busted at school because of alcohol
Crabbe gets busted by his gym teacher "Fat-Ass" Grant for having alcohol in his locker. He only gets found out because he tries to skip gym class. He doesn't like gym, Grant finds him in the changeroom and Crabbe ends up stumbling, Grant realizes Crabbe has been drinking. -
Crabbe finally leaves or runs away
Crabbe finally leaves so, he doesn't have to stand living with he family anymore. He takes the family station wagon and drives up to where Ithaca Camp is. He hides the station wagon in a cluster of trees that are close together but not too close. Then her starts on his journey after he hides the station wagon in the trees. -
Crabbbe gets attacked by a bear
Crabbe gets attacked by a bear when hes at Ithaca Camp. He made the dumb mistake of leaving food in his tent and spilling fish oil on his sleeping bag and inside the tent. Crabbe was basically asking to be attacked by the bear. He made some stupid mistakes that other people wouldnt of made, to put him into the situation he put himself in. -
Crabbe goes over the waterfall
Crabbe has gotten himself into a mess he cant get out, which leads to him going over a waterfall. He ended having one of his packs crash into his arm on the way down, and he had a second pack slice his arm open along the forearm. Crabbe was lucky to survive going over the waterfall. He gets pulled out by a beautiful looking girl. -
Crabbe goes into a pack hes not supposed to go in
Crabbe is told to go into one of packs to get some clean rags and bandages. So, he can get his forearm rebandaged. Crabbe didnt really her directions, so he went into the wrong pack. He got yelled at not to go into the pack ever again. He was told to stay out of pack because there are some very private stuff in that pack. After that he got his arm redressed. -
Crabbe confesses everything about himself to Mary
Crabbe goes and confesses everything about himself to Mary. He confesses that hes and alcoholic, full of aniexty. He believes himself to be a bloody unless character. Crabbe gets told that guilt is another form of an escape. Crabbe also realizes that Mary is right about how guilt, self pity and booze are all forms of escape. After Crabbe confesses himself to Mary, he's not sure what will be left. He's wondering what will be left when the last layer has been peeled off. -
Mary tests Crabbe and his survival skills
Crabbe gets tested by having to find his way through a forest using the directions that Mary gave him. Mary tells Crabbe that if he ends up in the water or back at the beach where he started then he did something wrong. Mary made this test so, Crabbe could proved that he learned how to survive in the woods and nature without much help. -
Mary gives Crabbe a pipe to help with his drinking problem
Crabbe receives a pipe from Mary. Mary believes that the pipe might help Crabbe and his driking problem. Crabbe is willing to try because it might actually help. Crabbe is also willing to try because he states that he has nothing to lose. -
First frost of the year
Crabbe is suprised when he wakes up and sees frost covering the campsite. He describes it as looking like frozen mist. When the sun comes out, it starts to melt the frost turning it into moisture. -
Mary and Crabbe plan on raiding the hunt camp for supplies
Mary has been planning on the raiding the same hunt camp that she has raided before for supplies that she will need. Mary plans on staying through the winter again, so she'll need some more staples such as salt, flour, and pepper. Crabbe joins Mary as she plans to raid the hunt camp. -
Crabbe and Mary raid the hunt camp
Crabbe and Mary travel to the hunt camp so they can raid it of supplies. Mary knows exactly where the hunt camp is. They travel by foot to the camp. While at the camp, Mary finds tobacco while looking through the cup boards in th cook house. -
Mary falls off the cliff edge while getting wood for the fire
Mary went off the get some branches, sticks and wood for a fire while Crabbe did the same. After a while, Crabbe could no longer hear Mary. So, he went looking for her, he came to the cliff edge. Crabbe looked over the edge and saw Mary's broken and twisted body laying among the rocks at the bottom of the cliff. After, Crabbe got Mary's body up to the top of the cliff, he burned her. He did this so, no one or animals could find her dead body. -
Crabbe arrives back at the campsite
Crabbe arrives back at the campsite after the long hike back from the hunt camp. He pulls the canoe out of the water and puts it in its usually hiding place by the campsite. He stays at the campsite for a few weeks before leaving. Crabbe ends up sleeping for a few days straight before getting up and actually doing anything productive. -
Crabbe leaves the campsite to go back into civilization
Crabbe finally decides that the day has come to leave the campsite because the snow is becoming a problem for him. He packs up everything he would need. He heads off in the canoe using the compass and map. -
Crabbe spends the night in a cabin that he has found
Crabbe finds a cabin that he can stay in. He stays in the cabin for a couple days because he's cold and he needs to rest from the long journey he just had. He stays so he can dry out his clothes and eat some food before continuing on with his journey back into the city. -
Crabbe gets spotted by a snow plough driver
Crabbe is walking along the road trying for find someone who can give him a ride back into the city. He gets picked up by Jack Johnson. Jack Johnson is a snow plough driver. Jack asks Crabbe what has happened to his hand and Crabbe replies by saying he thinks his fingers are frozen. Jack unwraps Crabbe's hand and exclaims in shock. Jack then rushes Crabbe to clinic saying it's not good to mess around with frozen fingers -
Crabbe gets transported to a city hospital
Crabbe gets transported by ambulance to a city hospital. Before Crabbe leaves, he is told has to be moved to somewhere else because the clinic he is in doesn't have enough for him, and that's its a very small place. Crabbe gets knocked out before being loaded into an ambulance to be transported to a hospital. -
Crabbe reunits with his parents
When Crabbe's at the hospital, the police contact his parents and set up a meeting for them with Crabbe. Crabbe doesn't really like the idea of having to see his parents after he ran away from them in the first place. He tries to leave and go back to his room, but a nurse stops him from doing so. -
Crabbe gets a job at a sheet metal plant
Crabbe finds work so he start paying rent to his parents. Crabbe ends up finding a sheet metal plant that was hring. He ends up getting the job after an interview with one of the ower. During the interview, Crabbe asks the owner if he goes canoeing, Crabbe asks this because of the picture of the canoe on the desk. Crabbe and the owner get off topic and start tallking about canoeing.
