Coral Sea was the first time two naval fleets fought each other without the ships of opposing forces sighting each other. In this battle, Australia was saved from possible invasion and Japanese power was advanced well south of the Equator. The Australian- American Association captured Japanese documents for aid.

This battle stopped the Japanese power from advancing. The Japanese didn't know that the American had taken some of their documents and knew about the attack they were planning on the islands. Although the Japanese had more aircraft carriers, the United States won the battle because of their preparation advantage. This affected a lot of Japanese fleets and aircraft.

During this battle the Allied forces improved because of the change in commanders and they were cutting off the Axis supply lines. The German army knew that if they didn't get more supplies, it was impossible for them to win the war. This pushed German forces away from North Africa but opened up Sicily and Italy.

During this battle, the United States realized that this war was going to be bloody and difficult due to the Japanese resistance. A lot of U.S. marines died during this battle and pictures were realised to the public. Trying to conquer Tarawa was considered a mistake because of all the casualties and lack of planning, but it opened the door to other Japanese lands.
