    Any work published before 1923 is not protected by Copyright Act of 1976. Meaning, it is in the publuc domain.
  • 1978 Copyright Law Changed

    1978 Copyright Law Changed
    The Act spelled out the basic rights of copyright holders. The concept of "fair use" was created.
  • First Patent on a living organism

    First Patent on a living organism
    Ananda Chakrabarty donated a "genetically engineered bacterium," to absorb oil spills. The living organism was obviously not his property which caused the first patent on a living organism.
  • NAFTA Passed

    NAFTA Passed
    Created a chain of free trade between Mexico, Canada and the United States. Saved the countries money but of course money was not flowing causing some issues.
  • Limewire Shut Down

    Limewire Shut Down
    It was shut down after a "massive scale of infringement". The file sharing website allowed users to share all sorts of files for free, damaging the music industry.
