    Nat Turners Rebllion
    Nat Turners Rebellion was a Rebellion of enslaved Virginians, led by Nat the rebels killed around 60 white people. Thus making it the deadliest slave revolt in the United States.
  • The Second Seminole War

    The Second Seminole War
    The Second Seminole War was a conflict in Florida in a series of conflicts called the Seminoles Wars. After the Treaty of Payne’s Landing in that called for the removal of the Seminoles, tensions started to rise until open hostilities started with Dave battle. After the war only a few hundred Seminoles remained in Florida.
  • Whiteman Massacre

    Whiteman Massacre
    The Whiteman Massacre refers to the killing of American missionaries-Marcus Whiteman, Narcissa Whiteman, and 11 more. They were killed by a small group of Cayuse men who thought they poisoned 200 Cayuse during medical treatment. This caused the United States to take immediate action in declaring and establishing the Oregon Territory and this massacre also led to the Cayuse War.

    The Mexican War was caused by undisputed boundary lines with Texas and Polk wanting more land in Mexico. This was a 2 year war ending with a new Mexican government and the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, giving up Mexican territory.

    Boston abolitionists helped 2 slaves escape from Georgia slave catchers, rioters in New York freed a fugative from a courthouse. Another outbreak of 20 African Americans firing at MAryland slave catchers, killing 2 happened in Pennsylvania.

    The Mormon/Utah War
    The Mormon war was caused by Mormons in a Utah territory governed by Brigham Young, resisted federal laws to end polygamy. The resisting was considered a declaration of war and President Buchanan sent a small army into Utah which caused the Mormon militia to kill 120 emigrants and people looking to flee. This war abolished polygamy or open marriage which was needed for Utah to be accepted into the Union.
  • The Raid at Harpers Ferry

    The Raid at Harpers Ferry
    John Brown gathered 18 heavily armed white and black men to go raid Harpers Ferry, Virginia in hopes to arm slaves with weapons in the arsenal and start a major rebellion that would end slavery. This rebellion was not successful and led to Virginia sentencing Brown to be hanged.

    Dakota War
    The Dakota had agreed to sell land for supplies and money to settlers which was pocketed by some Native contractors and agents as well as the Minnesota governor. This caused the Dakota to protist which led to them killing immigrants and to burn farms. In the end over 400 whites died, and 307 Dakotas were sentenced to death but only 38 of them were later hung.

    The Sand Creek Massacre was a surprise attack on non hostile Cheyenne and Arapaho Indians. The Norther Plains were frustrated and wanted them out and more land so they attacked killing about 160 Natives.

    The Civil War lasted 4 years and had two main sides, the Union(Northern States), and the Condfederates(Southern States). The reasons of fighting at the beginning of the war are different for both and different as they got further along. The South wanted to be left alone and have slaves as they were scared of their rights and self governemnt would be taken away. The North wanted the states all to be one again and to abolish slavery.
