One technology that left a lasting impression on me and led to one of my favorite hobbies is the digital camera, allowing virtually unlimited photos to be taken without the need for developing physical film, digital cameras have changed the landscape for photography. From simple enthusiasts to professionals in almost any field digital cameras are now everywhere in all shapes and sizes. -
A simple single board computer that people still use today, sold 118.69 million units worldwide. This handheld console forever changed the landscape of mobile entertainment, now we have essentially small laptops in our pockets that play 3D realistic games, movies, educational videos, take photos and make calls but I feel strongly these small handhelds affected the thought of mobile games being utilized on phones. -
Another technology we use today is ability to send a text message instead of making a phone call, writing an email or even writing a letter. Used broadly for many things from bank statements to simple "Hello!" the text has become synonymous with cellphone technology. -
Originally conceived in 1973 by the US Department of Defense and fully operational by 1993, the GPS has become a widely used and for many an essential computer system to have for travel. -
Another simple but fairly important advancement in computers was the storage method of DVDs. Used for many things however primary use was for movies and television shows to be stored/sold. They eliminated the need for VHS tapes and their bulky tape decks saving many people space and money however now that we are in the digital age the DVD is on its way to being yet another extinct technology.
