    Developed by Ken Thompson, then later Dennis Ritchie, B was created circa 1969. The name of B seems to derive from BCPL, the language is it based off of. It was designed for "recursive, non-numeric, machine independent applications, such as system and language software."
  • Ada

    Developed by Tucker Taft, It first appeared in 1980, but wasn't stable enough to release until 2012, a whole 32 years later. It was created for the United States Department of Defense to be a strong, secure language with strong typing.
