    The Knoll brothers, John and Thomas, began working on a photo editing application in the 1980's and after finally receiving investing from Adobe the application was published at the start of the 90's. This advanced editing for photographers and further combined the art world with technology.
  • The Nokia Cellphone

    The Nokia Cellphone
    Nokia releases it's first cellphone called the Nokia 1011. It was founded by Fredrik Idestam and was the first mass produced and digital cellphone. It began the time for smaller handheld phones compared to the much larger phones seen in the past.
  • Text Messaging

    Text Messaging
    The first text message was sent by Neil Papworth. The simple "Merry Christmas" message made way for a new world of communication for us. Although, most phones at the time didn't support text messaging it allowed cellphones to be further developed.
  • The PlayStation

    The PlayStation
    First released in Japan the Sony PlayStation was created by Ken Kutaragi. It was released in the United States in 1995. The console allowed for a variety of games and 3D graphics. It became the most popular console for the youth at the time.
  • DVD

    DVD
    The DVD was created and it replaced VHS tapes. It was not created by a single developer because many companies had to collaborate to create a universal format. It was smaller than the VHS tapes and had more space for storage. After this DVD players became widely popular and allowed for easier play of shows, movies, and videos.
