This is when USSR and U.S. began having conflicts. While the U.S. supported South Korea, the USSR supported North Korea's communist nation. -
The Korean War ends
It reached a stalemate. North Korea stayed as a communist country and South Korea stayed as a democracy. -

The USSR didn't trust everyone, so they formed the KGB, a security agency that arrested suspect who were believed to be spys or traitors. This helped the USSR to have more control of their nation. -
Berlin wall taken down
This marked the beginning of the end of Cold War. The Berlin Wall was taken down and Berlin was united for the first time since 1945 -
End of Cold War
The end of the Soviet Union was announced on this day. The war was over, as there was no one else to fight, things returned back to normal.
