Berlin Airlift/ end of blockade
In response to the blockade the western got its airforce and helped out west berlin. Since it was going so well Soviets didn't have a chance but take off the blockade. -
Russia tested its first Atomic Bomb
USSR successfully detonates its first atomic bomb “First Lightning.” In order to measure the effects of the blast the Soviet scientists constructed buildings, bridges, and other civilian structures in the vicinity of the bomb. -
Berlin Wall goes down
On Nov.9 the Eastern German government announced that the east and west can visit eachother.When that weas said people would climb over and see their families. -
Cold war ends
On 3 December 1989 the Cold War 'officially' ended when Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev met with US president George Bush aboard a Soviet ship docked at Malta's Marsaxlokk harbour.
