  • Marshall Plan

    Marshall Plan
    A program of economic aid offered by the United States to any European country. The plan was rejected by Stalin and any Eastern Bloc country considering accepting aid was reprimanded severely. The aid was then only given to Western European countries.
  • Brussels Pact

    Great Britain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg signed this treaty to protect Europe from communism. The pact stated this if any of the countries were attacked or influenced by communism, the other countries would bound to help defend it.

  • Founding of The North Atlantic Treaty Organization

    The NATO was founded by the United States, Canada, and the Western European Countries to provide selective security against the Soviet Union. Events such as the Berlin Blockade caused the organization because there needed to be safety for Western European countries if the Soviet union were to quarrel once more.
