    Roosevelt, Churchill and Stalin met in Krimea. They decided to devide Germany in four areas of occupation in orther to achieve it's unconditional defeat.

  • Churchill’s Iron Curtain speech

    Churchill declared that from Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic an Iron curtain had descended along the continent.
    It is considered the official declaration of the cold war and the now bipolar world.
  • Truman Doctrine

    It was made to prevent the spread of Communism and protect the lives of “Freedom loving peoples”. It set the language in which Americans would view the world: America = free, Communism = tyrannical.
    The speech set a precedent for American assistance to anti-communist regimes all over the world.

    The Communist Information Bureau was an international alliance that promoted ideological unity among the communist parties in Europe, giving the USSR more political control over them.

    Response to economic chaos in Europe, used US aids to fight economic instability. Western Europe was rebuilt and by 1950 production levels and industry eclipsed to pre-war numbers. Japan was also rebuilt.

    Council for Mutual Economic Assistance was founded in by the USSR. Its aim was to improve the economy of the countries that were part of the Soviet Bloc

    Alliance between the US and the Western European nations, it gave them perision to station American troops on these countries if necessary.

    The US no longer had a monopoly on that aspect.

    Both sides agreed an armistice and recognized the 38th parallel as a temporary dividing line between North Korea and South Korea. However,the division has not been eliminated and remains to this day.
