After Bragg attempted to drive burnside out of tennessee, burnside looked for refuge in knoxville. He successfully defended from confederate attacks there. -
The North has now created a snowball too large for the south can handle, Lee can no longer win battles, only do more damage than grant does in a futile effort to keep up in numbers, the north has too much power to be defeated now.

Grant still wanting to attack lee, fought in spotsylvania for 5 days. during this battle, fire broke out, burning many soldiers who were either wounded or dead.

Most of this battle was fought for the southerners with the ironclad Tennessee doing more damage than the ship recieved. Although the Tennessee's fighting spirit could not die, the north simply had too many people. The Tennessee then surrendered as you can locate in this picture. -
