    The united states government tried to compromise with missouri about the topic of slavery. They did this because slavery was such a big issue it was tearing the country apart.

    The free soil party was a political party created in 1848 and ended in 1852. This political party was founded in the state of New York, this party really made an impact on showing the importance that slavery had.

    The compromise of 1850 was an attempt to save the realtionship between the North and South States. This was yet another compromised that was created to stop the issues of slavery.

    This act was passed by the united states congress on september 18, 1850. This act enabled that any slave who had ran away once found would have to be returned to their owners. This caused a lot of contriversy amoust the states.

    This act was created to allow people who lived within the territories of Kansas and Nebraska to decide for themselves if they wanted slavery in their boundries or not. It was passed by the congress of the untied states.

    This was a court case that went all the way to the Supreme court agruing if African Americans should be able to hold citizenship and the court finally agreed that if they were slaves or not they would not be considered citizens

    This election was won by the replublican Abraham Lincoln. The men running were Abraham Lincoln, John C. Breckinridge, John Bell, and Stephen A. Douglas.

    This war began on April 12th 1861 and did not end until April 9th 1865. This war is now known as our bloodest war. Many reasons were at fault for this war some of those being: slavery of course being one of the biggest, the rights that some states had, another is all of the compromises not following what had been promised.
