Compromise of 1850
The compromise introduces Popular sovereignty out west and a strict Fugitive Slave Act. It further splits the country on the Slave issue. -
Kansas-Nebraska Act
The act creates "Popular Sovereignty" in the territory. The causes "Bleeding Kansas" as move people fight it out to create a free state or a slave state. -
Dred Scott Case
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled against Dred Scott, and stated that slaves were not citizens that they were property and owners could take their property wherever they wanted in the U.S. The Supreme Court also struck down the Missouri Compromise, the Compromise of 1850, and the Kansas-Nebraska Act. This decision outraged abolitionists in the North, but pleased southern slave owners. -

With the passage of the 13th Amendment, Slavery is abolished in the United States. This act frees nearly 4 million people.
