-The African American Rosa Parks ignored the Montgomery, Alabama bus law, which said that black people have to move or get up when a white person wants to sit on their bus seat
-She got arrestet
-The first mass protest by blacks in the south began. They boycottet the bus system with their leader Martin Luther King Jr.
-The protest stopped when the city abolished the bus law -

-The brutal treatment of demonstrators forced Kennedy to endorse the march on Washington
