    Mother Ann Lee, leader of the Shakers believed that lives should be simple and men and women should be completely seperated. She also believed that lust is the primary cause for sins. Shaker meetings were the only time men and women got together and even then they stayed on seperate sides of the room

    Harriet Tubman and the underground railroad

    Harriet Tubman was the conductor of the underground railroad. she helped over 300 slaves to freedom and had a $40,000 bounty on her head. Slave owners in the south were very upset and angry about this because they believed that it was stolen property.

    The most sucessful salve revolt. 57 whites were killed in one night. They searched fro turner and once they found him 2 months later he was hung for his actions.

    A book written by Harriet Beecher Stowe, in fact it was the only book she wrote. It was written in Brunswick Maine, and was an American bestseller. It sold 300,000 copies. It was about how a slave nad their family were treated and what happened to them.

    It was the same as the MO compromise, it just favored the south. It brought up the issue of slavery being a state or national problem again. It lead to bleeding Kansas.

    A supreme Court case where scott sues for his freedom. The court denies scotts request. The court says that "African-Americans are not citizens, and thus not entitled to citizens rights.".
  • Election of Abe Lincoln

    Election of Abe Lincoln
    Lincoln represents the North. He only got 37% of populafr vote. The North/Lincoln veiws secession as an act of treason, free slaves as military measures. THe south slowly secede, they view secession as a constitutional right.
