    Technology of the 90's

  • First text message sent

    Neil Papworth sent the first text message ever to his friend living in the UK. He said merry christmas, however since his friend did not have a the technology, he was unable to text him back.
    This was the beginning of a technological advancement that greatly impacted my generation. A majority of communication is now done via text when possible.

  • Windows 95

    Microsoft introduced windows 95. This operating system was more efficient than any other at the time and had new features. This made windows the standard operating system for most PCs.

  • Java created

    This programming language was created by James Gosling at Sun Microsystems. Flexible and allows developers to write code.

  • Hotmail launched

    Created by Sabeer Bhatia, Jack Smith, and Shaunak P. Hotmail was one of the first e-mail services created and helped revolutionize the way we communicate.

  • DVDs created

    Invented by sony corporations. DVDs replaced video cassettes. These were able to store more data and were more compact.
