  • High Speed Railway

    High Speed Railway
The emergence of the High speed Rail first developed in 1902 with a joint venture of a Prussian Rail company and German engineering firms. The idea stemmed off the already successful railway system in attempts to speed up the system. Thus with new technology, the new form of railway was developed. In current years, the technology continues to expand and has been put into use in various international countries. Though, not present in most of the U.S, it can still be seen in the east
  • Urban Zoning

    Urban Zoning
This type of regulation was put into use in order to designate certain land use in permitted zoned areas. First put into city-wide use was in New York, where it was used in response to The Equitable Building looming over residential areas. This blocked out the view for people and created complaints in which such a large building blocked out the sun. This was also used in earlier urban planning ventures, however in a city-wide scale started in the 1916.
  • Long Island, New York Suburbanization

The earliest large-scale suburban planning project can be traced to Long Island, New York. What used to be a rural and agricultural island turned into the starting point of American suburbanization movements. This movement of suburbanization played into majority of the cities in the U.S in the rest of the century and still continues its expansion even now. In Beijing, there are various districts that act as residential zones which reflect this Suburban movement.
