2007 Saw the US recall a record high number of Chinese-Made Toys for health hazard reasons. Together these recalls were responsible for 125 known injuries and 4 deaths. The huge recall grabbed the attention of the media and the public.

    In June 2007, toy firm RC2 Corp recalled several of its Thomas & Friends wooden train sets because of the level of lead in the paint its Chinese contractor had used. A ghoulish fake eyeball toy made in China was recalled after it was found to be filled with kerosene. Sets of toy drums and a toy bear were also recalled because of lead paint, and an infant wrist rattle was recalled because of a choking hazard.

    August 13: The boss of Lida Toy Company, Zhang Shuhong, is found dead in his factory workshop. Local media reports say he hanged himself.

    Toys R Us recalled 27000 Imaginarium brand 213 Piece Wooden Colouring Cases because the printed ink on the outer packaging of the wooden cases contained lead, and some of the black watercolour paint in the set contained excessive levels of lead, violating federal lead paint standards.

    Spin Master Recalls Aqua Dots - Children Became Unconscious After Swallowing Beads. The coating on the beads that causes the beads to stick to each other when water is added contains a chemical that can turn toxic when many are ingested. Children who swallow the beads can become comatose, develop respiratory depression, or have seizures.
