Chinese New Year / Spring Festival
Families celebrating by decorations, food, and clothing. It is tradition to clean a house in order to have a fresh start. In my opinion, The Chinese New Year is like New Years Day because it is the start of a new year. Red envelopes with money are given to children. The whole celebration sounds interesting to me.
  • Lantern Festival

    Lantern Festival
The Lantern Festival is celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month. Lanterns are made that have riddles for children to solve on them and are released.I think its really interesting how the lanterns have changed throughout the years but the traditional lanterns still make an appearence. THis holiday reminds me of the Fourth of July because the lanterns released remind me of fireworks.
  • Qingming Festival

    Qingming Festival
Qingming is a time for people to go outside and enjoy the spring and visit your family that has passed away. Floweres are carried around and kites are flown. The holiday shows respect to those who have passed away. I really like how involved the citizens get with this holiday. It reminds me of memorial day.
  • Dragon Boat Festival

    Dragon Boat Festival
The dragon is a masculine, powerful image in China. This holiday involeves eating dumplins, drinking wine, and dragon boat racing. This holiday represents energy as it is held on the longest day of the year. I like that everybody gets out and the way the holiday is celebreated. This reminds me of the Fourth of July because it is held in the summer and the way it is spent.
  • Mid-Autumn Festival

    Mid-Autumn Festival
This festival reminds me of America's Thanksgiving. Food is harvested and people give thank. This holiday involves praying, giving thanks, and gathering. Thirteen mooncakes are piled up to represent the thirteen months in a lunar year.
