Robert E Lee resigns from the United States Army and takes command of the Confederate Army. It is known as "The War of Northern Agression" in the South. -

In 1865, Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth in Ford's Theatre in Washington, DC. Andrew Johnson was the vice president at the time, therefore he was appointed as the president of the United States. -

On February 28, 1868, the United States Congress impeached Andrew Johnson. This made history because he was the first president to be impeached. Andrew Johnson became the president after Abraham Lincon was assasinated. -

An earthquake of a 7.8 magnitude. Devastating fires ravaged the city for days. 3,000 people died and over 80% of San Francisco

Chemestry - Rutherfords Gold foil experiment
Ernest Rutherford, along with Hans Geiger and Ernest Marsden, demonstrated the nuclear nature of atoms by deflecting alpha particles passing through a thin gold foil. They looked for alpha particles with very high delfection angles. Such deflections are found and through this data Rutherfords theorized the existance of a small charged nucleus in the atom. -
US History - Titanic
The Titanic was claimed to the "Unsinkable". However, on April 15, 1912, it sank after hitting an iceberg and left a gaping hole in the side, leaving it vunerable to water coming inside. It was 883 feet long, and had 16 compartments that were said to be "watertight". -
Chemestry - Bohr's Planetary Model of the Atom
Introduced by Niels Bohr it dpeicts the atom as a small, psoitvely charged nucleus surrounded by electrons. Similar to the solar system, but the attraction comes because of electrostatic forces instead of gravity. -

A large and violent global war between the Allies and the Axis powers. It led to the deaths of nine million combatants and seven million civilians. It started with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, and ended with the Treaty of Versailles. -

Despite being discovered in 1913, atomic numbers never got their name until 1932, with aid from James Chadwick. Atomic numbers define the neutrons in an atom. -
