Chemestry - Rutherfords Gold foil experiment
Ernest Rutherford, along with Hans Geiger and Ernest Marsden, demonstrated the nuclear nature of atoms by deflecting alpha particles passing through a thin gold foil. They looked for alpha particles with very high delfection angles. Such deflections are found and through this data Rutherfords theorized the existance of a small charged nucleus in the atom.
