Charles Darwin was born in the "English midlands town of Shrewsbury" and comes from a line of physicians and a heritage of science and technology (Ruse, M., & Ruse, M. (2008). His father, Erasmus Darwin was an "evolutionist and poet" who also believed the same key concepts of evolution that Darwin adopted and developed.

Darwin attended the University of Cambridge and upon graduation he was given the opportunity to board the HMS Beagle. "a British warship that was to chart the coasts around South America " (Ruse, M., & Ruse, M. (2008). During his voyage Darwin began "doing a notable peice of scientific theorizing" regarding coral reefs and comparing them to Lyell's theories of "extinct volcanoes" (Ruse, M., & Ruse, M. (2008).

Darwin published his book and when it came to the context of species, emphasized the point that "really remarkable things are possible and it all comes about through the selection of the better or more desirable forms," (Ruse, M., & Ruse, M. (2008) forming into phrase called "natural selection." This is where Darin "reported on the widely documented existence of natural variation in wild populations. Charles Darwin passed away in his home " in the Kentish village of Downe," in the United Kingdom (Ruse, M., & Ruse, M. (2008). He gave notorious to the field of science in the realm of evolution and natural selection, which was somewhat of a paradigm shift in itself. He will continue to be known as the Father of Evolution.
