    Charles Darwin began to develop a theory of the origins of living organism's that shared the popular beliefs of other naturalists of his time. Darwin’s theory of evolution suggests that species that survive through the process of natural selection were species that were able to adapt or evolve to the changing conditions of their natural habitat and were able to thrive and reproduce vs. the species that failed to evolve and reproduce and would eventually die off. This would be known as Darwinism.

    Charles Robert Darwin was a British naturalist and biologist born in Shrewsbury, England on February 12, 1809. He attended both the University of Edinburgh and Christ's College in Cambridge. Charles Darwin was the second youngest of six siblings. His father and grandfather were both PhD doctor's and highly regarded in society.

    On December 27, 1831, Charles Darwin set sail around the world on a five year venture aboard the HMS Beagle. He collected specimens for research such as birds, plants, and fossils. He would soon venture to the Archipelago of what is referred to today as the Galapagos Island's. There he studied the local flora, fauna, and fossilized remains he discovered up close in their natural habitat's. He returned to England in 1836. He began writing his discoveries and findings the Journal of Researches.

He helped lead the pursuit of knowledge in regards to the origins of life itself. died at his family home in London on April 19, 1882.
