    In 1835 the expedition arrived at the Galapagos Islands. It is here that Darwin observed and collected a variety of animals including tortoises, finches, and iguanas (2017). The finch birds would become the bases of Darwin's research on Evolution by Natural Selection. References:

    During the "Beagle" voyage Darwin began writing a diary conveniently named the "Beagle Diary." From the "Beagle's" departure in 1831 to its return in 1836, Darwin described his travels on the "Beagle" as well as discoveries on the five year journey (2018). Darwin would publish the first edition of this journal in 1839 and a second edition in 1845 (2018). References:
