When Darwin was just 16 years of age his father sent him to study at the Edinburgh University School of Medicine. The university at the time was top school in all of the Britain. Charles Darwin was hired onto the HMS Beagle as the ships naturalist to collect items every time the ship stopped and forage for items such as rocks, gems, plants, animals, and more. Darwin was 22 years old at the time and was eager to see the world on a voyage of a lifetime. Work Cited:

Darwin on his journey aboard the HMS Beagle stops at Port St. Julian and discovers fossils the size of a cow that were extinct rhinoceroses, armadillos, and mastodons which prove the idea of evolution. It also hints that our world is a lot older than what was commonly believed at the time.

Charles Darwin while aboard the HMS Beagle stopped in the Galapagos islands the crew discovered a spread of strange animals from giant turtles to strange lizards that swim. During the voyage on the HMS Beagle Darwin discovers types of fossils, animals, and plant life. Most notably Darwin discovers various birds were in fact the same species. Mutated Finches evolved over time to adapt to environments. He found similar animal properties in Galapagos Islands. Work Cited:
