  • Charles Darwin is born

    On this day Charles Darwin is born to Robert Waring Darwin and Susannah Wedgewood. His mother died when he was eight, and he was put in the care of his three older sisters. He is most famous for his circumnavigation of the globe and his book, "On the Origin of Species."
  • The Beagle Voyage

    Charles Darwin set out from Plymouth, England on December 27th, 1831 on the HMS Beagle to circumnavigate globe, although there spent a lot of time in South America. They explored Cape Verde Island, Rio de Janeiro, Montevideo, The Falkland Islands, the Galapagos Islands, Tahiti, Australia, and The Cape of Good Hope. During these travels he observed and recorded many things, Ultimate conforming in his 1859 book, "On the Origins of Species." They arrived in Falmouth, England on October 2, 1836.
  • On the Origin of Species and Natural Selection

    On November 24th, 1859, Darwin publishes his book, "On the Origin of Species." This book detailed his theory on evolution, now known as Darwinism, with a massive amount of evidence. In this book he terms it Natural Selection, or in other words, survival of the fittest. He theorized that in any given environment, the species that survive due to specific traits that they have developed reproduce, while the ones that don't have the more useful traits die out.
