    Christopher Sholes invented the current QWERTY keyboard/typewriter layout. He invented this after experimenting with typewriters and after taking notice of a common jamming of keyboards, he decided to attempt to fix the problem.

    Andrew Carnegie led a massive expansion of the steel industry during his life and also believed in helping society through the large ammount of wealth he had incurred through the industry.

    Thomas Edison is an extremely famous inventor. More probably known for inventing the lightbulb, he also invented very many other well known devices like the phonograph and camera.

    Alexander Graham Bell is credited for inventing the very first telephone. Ironically, Bell had a sort of hatred for his invention.

    F.W. (Frank Winfield) Woolworth pioneered the basic methods we would recongise today for going out to buy merchandise. He created the company we know as footlocker today.

    Ottmar Mergenthaler, also known as the second Gutenburg, invented the Linotype machine. This revolutionized priniting.

    George Eastman was an entrepreneur who founded the Eastman Kodak company, more commonly known as Kodak today, which helped to bring photography to the common man.

    Originally R. H. Macy & Co. is a chain of department stores. It was founded by Rowland Hussey Macy, and when the store was first moved to New York City, it made almost $300 in today's money on the first day.
