    The Yalta Conference was the wartime of the heads of government of the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Soviet Union, represented by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and General Secretary Joseph Stalin, respectively, for the purpose of discussing Europe's post-war reorganization. The meeting was intended mainly to discuss the re-establishment of the nation of war-torn Europe.

    Truman's first meeting with Stalin occurred in July 1945 in the Berlin suburb of Potsdam. During the conference, Churchill was replaced by Clement Attlee, who had just won the British election.     The Army-McCarthy hearings began in late April 1954. Democrats asked that the hearings be televised, hoping that the public would see McCarthy for what he was. Ever eager for publicity, the senator agreed. By the time the hearings ended in mid-June, the senator had lost even his strongest supporters. Although McCarthy remained in the Senate, his power was gone.-ericka

    The U-2 Incident
    This occured in the 1960s and was when the soviet military shoot down an American plane. The Soviets used a guided missle to not just shoot down an ordinary plane it was a U-2 spy plane which was over Soviet Territory.
