Hans and Zacharias Janssen
Zacharias Jassen was generally believed to be the first person to invent the microscope. Hans Janssen was Zacharias' dad. They worked together as scientists for a long time. They also made many instruments. It is said that Zacharias constructed the microscope, however, many people believed that Hans helped his son Zacharias on constructing the microscope. Robert Hooke
Robert Hooke was a young boy when he was first interested in science. He collected interesting rocks, seashells, and fossils when he went to the beach as a child. In 1676, at the age of 41 Robert spent 2,000 pounds ($3425.30) on microscopes and to learn about "the nature of eels in vinegar". Anton van Leewenhoek created a microscope. His microscope was no more than two inches long. To use it, one would hold the lens very close to their eye. Theodor Schwann is a German physiologist. In the year of 1836, Theodor discovered digestive enzyme. Enzyme is a substance that is produced by an organism that is living and acts as a catalyst. In the year of 1838, Matthias Schleiden formulated (made or constructed) cell theory. He was a German physiologist. A physiologist is an expert on Biology and how human organisms work and function. Rudolph Virchow
Rudolph Virchow was a German physiologist and a histologist. In the year of 1855, Rudolph summarized cell theory with a Latin phrase. Virchow wanted to find out where diseases really start and where they first come from. Rudolph committed himself to archaeology and anthropolog later in his life.
