Causes of the American Revolution

  • Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris ended the French and Indian War. The Treaty of Paris gave the Bristish Canada, Great Lakes country, the Ohio River valley, and Florida. In Europe it was also known as the seven years war.
  • French an Indian War

    Taxes were raised so the war could be paid for, the ones who had to pay the taxes were the colonists. The colonists believed that the tax went against the Magna Carta because they could not vote on the law
  • Surgar Act

    The Sugar Act was also know as the American Revenue Act or the American Duties Act. It was a tax on surgar that was passed by Parliament of Great Britain.
  • Creation of "writs of assistance"

    A written order issued by a court instructing a law enforcement official, like a sherrif or a tax collector.
  • Stamp Act

    The stamp act was the tax on any transportation of a document. The people that pay the tax would recieve an official stap that would represent that they paid for the official stamp.
  • Townshend Acts

    Acts where named after Chalres Townshend. The purpose was to raise revenue in the colonies so they could pay the governors and judges so they could be independent of colonial rule
  • Boston Massacare

    Boston soldiers killed 5 colonists because of an angry mob, the mod was from the tax on tea.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Parliament increased the tax on tea. So the colonists rebeled and dressed up as indians and dumped the tea in the ocean.
  • Intolerable Acts

    The laws where parliament passed the laws to punish Boston for the Boston tea party. After the the Boston Tea partyy boston harbor was closed and then public meetings were made illegal, and military took over until the teaa was paid for.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    The British leave Boston so they could go search for weapons being stored by the Sons of Liberty
