    It took 27 years for Rome to hear about Carthage. People think Rome should suffer, if they did anything wrong. People seemed the Carthage were free traders. Carthage had power to the prisoners and out of any Latin city, if they weren't subject to Rome. One of the only places that Carthage were able to trade was Sicily.

    First Battle of Himera

    The people were preparing Hannibal, and then they were going to attack. Lots of walls were down, and houses were on fire and a ton of destruction. The Carthaginians left after that attack.

    Capture of Agrigentum

    For two months, the army was outside. Hannibal got a call that they needed to leave. The Romans went with Hannibal and Carthage. They went to Agrigentum and knew that they were fortunate and they left after a while.

    The Syracusan went to attack. Eight ships sunk. The other ships went to find shore. Argrigentum was in distress. There was nothing to eat. No more food. There was nothing they could do. So, they went and abandon the city.

    Hannibal succeed in Sicily. They persuaded the Carthage's that the whole island was going to be theirs. They were determined. 40 Carthage ships set out to sea to Sicily.

    Dionysius sent Carthage a message and said that if the Greek cities didn't restore the freedom, Sicily will have peace. Carthage didn't prepare for war, and Sicily didn't have peace, so they declared war. The government had an unfailing supply of money.

    Carthage only had small power to the western part of the island. Dionysius saw Messana on the way back and they had a fierce battle. While the battle was going on, Carthage started to recover her strength.

    He won too much glory in Italy, he passed it over to Sicily in the spring. Carthage offered them a lot of money, but he refused, because Carthage was his old enemy. And the Greek cities wanted help, so they invited him to come.
