    • September 20, 1915, young Newfoundlanders arrived at Gallipoli with excitement. However, they were disappointed soon, since the condition in the trenches was really bad. During the four months fought, 30 men died in action and 10 more died of disease. Finally, they won on November 4th, 1915.

    • The Battle of the Somme from July to November 1916, with aim of against the German forces on the Western. It is one of the most bitter and costly battles of WWI. Especially the first day, there were more than 57,000 British casualties. Although it failed, the German forces in France were destroyed.

    • On April 9, 1917, the four divisions of the Canadian Corps launched an offensive. After three days of battle, they eliminated the German defenses. This is the first time Canadians from all over Canada fought together in one force. This battle became a symbol of the waking of the Canadian nationalism.

    • The Battle of Passchendaele from July 31st to November 10th, 1917. Even though Canada had won the battle, many Canadians were negatively affected by it. There are more than 500000 soldiers casualties in this battle. It became a symbol of the senseless slaughter of WWI.
  • Battle of Hong Kong

    • Hong Kong is the first place Canadians fought a land battle in WW2. On 8th December, 1941, six hours after bombing Pearl Harbor, the Japanese attacked Hong Kong. After 5 days of fighting, Kowlogn and the mainland fell to the Japanese. 783 Canadians were killed, and the captured soldiers suffered four years of abuse.

    • The Battle of Normandy from June to August 1944. 156,000 American, British and Canadian forces involved in this battle. To take back the continent from Hitler. The battle was one of the largest amphibious military assaults in history. Despite extreme casualties, the Allies were successful in taking the beaches at Normandy.
