The Boxer Rebellion started in Northern china, 1899-1901 and was an armed, xenophobic, anti-Christian, anti-imperialist movement against foreigners. It was originally created by peasants but was soon supported by the government to help drive all foreigners out of china but failed due to small numbers. some people find it easy to empathise with because of things like racism towards different cultural backgrounds.
