    BOE of Hendrick v. Rowley

    A deaf 1st grader was to attend school and the school district would find an interpreter to be with her all day during school hours. The school district backed out at the last minute, The parents took it to the Federal courts and they won their case in both the U. S. Courts and the U. S. Courts of Appeals. The U. S. Courts stated the standards for a free appropriate public education. The U. S. courts hold states accountable for implementing educational standards for the disabled.

    Larry P. v. Wilson Riles

    Larry P. lived in San Francisco, attended public school and experience difficulty learning his academics. School psychologist tested him and the findings were he was mildly mentally retarded. He was placed in EMR classes.
    Referrals came from regular ed classes and recommendations from the psychologist. The EMR classes only taught a small function of social skills.
    The district was ordered to eliminate the Standard Intelligence Test of African American students in special education classes.

    Honig v. Doe

    In Doe's IEP meeting it was documented that he was socially inexperienced as a 17-year-old. Doe was a troubled teen with bouts of anger and violent impulses toward his peers. Goals that was implemented in his IEP were to control and improve his relationship with his peers. Doe choked a student because the student was teasing him. The principal suspended him. Later expulsion was admitted but Doe went to court and the expulsion violated the EHA. Doe was admitted back to school after 24 days.
