He took to sea as an English privateer during The Queen Anne's War (1702-1713). -
Hornigold
He joined Benjaman Hornigold's crew, who saw the petential in him and gave him a captured ship. Together they would rade more ships and prosper. -
Queen Anne's Revenge
On November 17, 1717, Blackbeard captured the La Concorde, a very large, French slaving ship. He mounted 40 guns (cannons) on it and renamed it Queen Anne's Revenge. -
South Carolina
In the summer of 1718 he surprised colonial America by blocking the port of Charleston, in South Carolina. Insted of attacking the city, he mad a more memorable and impresive display of power. He spared the town. -
Death
He died near Ocracoke Island, North Carolina, U.S.
