    11th Amendment
    In a case where citizens of a state sue another state, that state will not fall under federal jurisdiction. The event that lead up to this Amendment was to overturn the Supreme court ruling of 1793.
  • 12th Amendment

    12th Amendment
    Re establishes the electing president of the united states (POTUS) and VEEP. The events that led to this Amendment getting passed was because the issues at hand during the years of the 1796 and 1800 presidential elections.
  • 13th Amendment

    13th Amendment
    This amendment banned slavery in all states, even though at the time there was 13 states that had outlawed it already. The event that up to this Amendment being passed was when Lincoln recognized the emancipation proclamation would need to be followed by a constitutional amendment.

    14th Amendment
    The federal government finally defines citizenship. The event that lead to this Amendment being passed was after the Civil war ended many southern states started passing laws that took rights away from former slaves.
  • 15th Amendment

    15th Amendment
    No state can deny the right to vote to any citizen. Regardless of their race, color, or former slave status. The event that lead to this Amendment being passed was the Republican desire to entrench its power in the north and south.
  • 16th Amendment

    16th Amendment
    This amendment allowed the federal government to institute an income tax. The event that lead to this Amendment being passed was a consequence of the court ruling in the 1895 Pollock v. Farmers' Loan & Trust Co.
  • 17th Amendment

    17th Amendment
    This amendment changed the process of electing senators. The event that led to to this amendment being passed was when the House proposed amendments for the direct election of Senators in 1910-11 they included a "race rider" meant to bar Federal intervention in cases of racial discrimination among voters. the resolution became the 17th amendment.
  • 18th Amendment

    18th Amendment
    This amendment prohibited the production of alcohol, not the consumption of it however.
    The vents that happened because of the 18th Amendment was prohibitionist era and then one year after the Amendment was abolished.
  • 19th Amendment

    19th Amendment
    This ensured women older than 21 the right to vote. No one can be denied the right to vote over their sex. `This Amendment lead to women gaining power and rights within our society.
  • 20th Amendment

    20th Amendment
    This changed the presidential inauguration to March to January.
    This Amendment lead to the reduction of presidential transition time or the "lame duck" period.
  • 21st Amendment

    21st Amendment
    Congress admitted to being wrong and they repealed the 18th amendment. This Amendment lead to the end of prohibition. this amendment came a year after the 18th.
  • 22nd Amendment.

    22nd Amendment.
    Presidents are no longer aloud to serve more than 2 terms or 10 years in total. This amendment lead to shortening the time a president can serve.
  • 23rd Amendment

    23rd Amendment
    Granted Citizens of Washington D.C. the right to vote. This amendment lead to giving residents of Washington the right to vote.
  • 24th Amendment

    24th Amendment
    This amendment got rid of poll taxes, these taxes limited the right to vote. This amendment lead to removing poll taxes on votes.
  • 25th Amendment

    25th Amendment
    This amendment clarifies what happens if the president is removed. Also establishes line of succession to the president.
    This amendment lead to a plan for who steps up after a president is killed or cant serve.
  • 26th Amendment

    26th Amendment
    This amendment lowered the voting age to 18 for all U.S. citizens. This was made to lower voting age for U.S citizens.
  • 27th Amendment

    27th Amendment
    this took almost 200 years to pass. this salaries cannot be increased until next congress session. This amendment was put in place to make fair pay for congress members so they couldn't raise their pay themselves .
