    Bennett Plyler, 17, grew up playing football in Mt Ulla, NC and was a star defensive lineman at Mt. Ulla High School. In Erikson's fifth stage, Adolescence, Identity vs. Identity Confusion, teens need to develop a sense of self security and personal identity. The crisis is when one has success with peers and activities one develops positive, coherent Identity and when one does not, the self identity is defined by Identity Confusion and one is trying to find their place in society going forward.

    Bennett Stays and Marries Nancy: Early Adulthood, Intimacy vs. Isolation
    Unfortunately or fortunately, Bennett was blinded in his left eye during a football game which made him ineligible for the World War II draft. He stayed in Mt Ulla, NC and married his high school sweetheart Nancy when he was 19. In Erikson's sixth stage, Early Adulthood, Intimacy vs. Isolation, the crisis is when one must decide to commit to a long term, intimate relationship and share oneself or to remain isolated and lonely and never have to share your agenda with anyone.

    The Plyler Family Grows: Middle Adulthood, Generativity vs. Stagnation
    Bennett, 41 and Nancy have just welcomed their fifth child into the world. Bennett now has four daughters and a son. He works as a butcher for the Food Lion Store in Mt Ulla and is an avid outdoors man. In Erikson's seventh stage, Middle Adulthood, Generativity vs. Stagnation, the crisis is how you care for others and what you create that will outlast you, thus what you will leave behind in this world. Success is a feeling of accomplishment, Generativity while failure is shallowness, Stagnation.
