    Conflict between Northern and Southern portions of Korea. The United States intervened to assist South Korea in containing the encroaching threat of communism from North Korea. The conflict subsides with oponents on either side of the 38th Parallel.

    Cuban Missile Crisis
    In a routine flight over Cuba, American U2 planes captured images of intercontinental missile stored in Cuba. These nuclear weapons were given to Cuba by the USSR. The two weeks following are marked by high tensions between the US and the USSR. President Kennedy attempted to negotiate with Nikita Khrushchev, amidst the threat of a nuclear attack. The United States commences a blockade of Cuba and negotaited a secret deal with the USSR to resolve the situation.
