Darwin and the rest of crew had made it across the equator. Crew members were blindfolded as water was poured on them. -
Darwin observes inside of Brazil's tropical rainforests for the first time, and is amazed by the beauty of all the life it contained.

While still in Argentina, Captain Fitzroy tries to make amends with 3 natives for his previous wrongdoing. He also unsuccessfully tried to being a Christian mission.

Darwin locates brachiopod fossils while exploring the Falkland Islands.

Darwin explores the Pampas in Argentina with the "guacho" people who lived there.

January-Feruary
While in Chiloe Island, Darwin witnessed the eruption of Mount Osorno, and experienced the earthquake it created. The results of the eruption were very severe, and had a large impact on Darwin. -
September-October
While at the last stop on their voyage, Darwin discovers many species on the Galapagos Islands that are very similar to the species on the mainland. He found many interesting animals, including finches, very large tortoises, and even iguanas that swam and ate seaweed in the ocean. -
January
As the crew arrived and explored in Sydney Cove, Darwin questioned why Australia contained very different mammals. -
April
Darwin observes the structure and distribution of the coral reefs to test his atoll formation theory. -
May
While taking a walk, Darwin saw the land was a mix of black lava and grass, and inferred it wasn't to be used for farming. -
June
Darwin explains how the number of bullock wagons in Cape Town was very eye capturing. He also observes how large Table Mountain is, and that it is located not too far behind the town. -
August
While exploring the Jungles in South America, the crew decides to take an additional unplanned stop, and Darwin becomes very seasick away from home. However, he discovered lots of fascinating organisms there. -
On the 2nd of October, 1836, the Beagle returned home in Falmouth, England at the end of a very successful journey.
