The Battle of Midway was a crucial naval battle in the Pacific Theater of WW II. It was a confrontation between the U.S. Navy and the Imperial Japanese Navy. The beginning of the battle entailed Flying Fortress bombers which flew from Midway to infiltrate Kondo’s invasion force (which they mistakenly thought was the main Japanese fleet). The attack was unsuccessful & marked the first military encounter in the Battle of Midway. -
The Second Battle of El Alamein was a another military altercation of the Second World War. The battle took place near the Egyptian railway halt of El Alamein. The First Battle of El Alamein and the Battle of Alam el Halfa had prevented the Axis from advancing further into Egypt. However, the second battle t was the climax of the North African campaign of WWII. The Axis army of Italy and Germany suffered a decisive defeat by the British Eighth Army. -
The Battle of Tarawa was a major battle in the Pacific Theatre of World War 2. It began as a result of the US forces which felt they now had to push into the central Pacific. This was in hopes that they could then target Japanese strong points and communications. The attack on Tarawa focused on Betio, the principal island in the atoll, at its southwest corner. After 76 hours of intense battle, the U.S. had seized it from the tenacious Japanese defenders.
