  • Japan Attacks

    The Japanese attack the Solomon Islands and enter the Coral Sea early in the day but the chance of an early battle passes because they are seventy miles away from American carriers.
  • Americans sink a Japonesse Carrier

    The USS Lexington and the USS Yorktown launch attack planes and sink the Japanese aircraft carrier Shoho. The Japanese invasion of Port Moresby is called off.
  • American important ships are sunk

    The USS Neosho and the USS Sims are sunk by Japanese aircraft
  • The americans intercep a japonesse attack

    The Allied Task Force 44 moves in to intercept the Japanese invasion force. However, Allied forces are spotted by Japanese reconnaissance aircraft and Japanese warplanes counter-attack. Allied forces are unable to intercept.
  • Equipment change by Japan

    The Japanese invasion force returns to the war they were before. Twenty-seven Japanese aircraft are launched hoping to locate the Allied task force. They are unable to do so and only six aircraft return safely.
  • Attacks

    Between 11 and 6 pm, US Navy warplanes severely damage the Japanese carrier Shokaku, the USS Lexington is hit by a Japanese torpedo and the USS Lexington's sailors are rescued. The USS Lexington is a complete loss and is sunk.
  • Aerial fight

    American and Japanese carrier groups spot one another. At approximately 9:30 in the morning, Japanese and American war planes are launched.
  • Battle ends

    With both sides having suffered heavy losses, the two fleets disengage and leave the battle area. The Japanese recall their invasion fleet.
