    On January 30, 1933, President Hindenburg gave Hitler the post of chancellor of Germany. Becoming the chancellor means that Hitler was now the head of the government in Germany. Hitler swore, "I will employ my strength for the welfare of the German people, protect the Constitution and laws of the German people, conscientiously discharge the duties imposed on me, and conduct my affairs of office impartially and with justice to everyone." Nazi's and many people believed in him.

    The camp is ordered to be built:
    On April 27, 1940, Heinrich Himmler ordered for the Auschwitz camp to be built. The camp was ordered to be built near Oswiecim, Poland. The camp was constructed from the prisoners them selves. Jews were sent in from Sachsenhausen, and the about 300 were sent from Oswiecim to perform service as well.

    Carbon Monoxide Gasing
    On July 28, 1941, the Auschwitz Concentration Camp recieved a special commission of doctors. These doctors selected the prisoners that were unfit for the camp. These prisoners were then gassed with carbon monoxide. The gassing of carbon monoxide took place in chambers, which were used for the mass murder of the mentally ill people in the camp.

    The doctors that were used at the Auschwitz Concentration Camp wanted to eliminate the sick. In August of 1941, they started using injections to the heart to kill off these sick prisoners. The shots inserted hydrogen peroxide, benzene, evipan, and phenol into the Jews' hearts. This method was called "Abspritzen". Once the poison was injected into the heart the victims would die immediately.

    Auschwitz didn't want the sick to be in their camp. They sent 1,200 sick prisoners to Birkenau. The SS then forced them into the square in the front. The SS continued to beat these prisoners with clubs until they reached death. After the prisoners were all killed, the SS sent the lifeless bodies back to Auschwitz. When the bodies reached Aushwitz, they were cremated.

    The Escape of 4 Prisoners:
    On July 20, 1942, 4 prisoners escaped the camp. The names of these prisoners were Kazimierz Piechowicz, Jozef Lempart, Stanislaw Gustaw Jaster, and Eugeniusz Bandera. There method to escaping consisted of faking the identities of the SS. They wore SS uniforms and broke into the wearhouses. In the wearhouses, they were able to steal the SS weapons. Stealing an SS vehicle, these prisoners escaped the camp.

    The Return of Typhus:
    Typhus returned to the Auschwitz camp. Typhus is a disease caused by rickettsiae. It is a highly infectuous disease. This disease can be characterized by headaches, purple rashes, and fever. The SS Dr. Joseph Mengele selected 1,035 prisoners that were suspected to have the Typhus epidemic. The suspected prisoners were sent to gas chambers and killed off immediately.

    The Jews were not respected to any extent. Thus, their belongings were no longer their possessions. Once the Jews were killed in the gas chambers, the SS would take any worth that they had. In June, the SS saved all the gold and white metal from the teeth of the Jews that were killed in the gas chambers. Within a month's time span, the SS gained 88 pounds of gold and white metal.

    The Resistment Movement got pictures of the camp. Some of the smuggled photos were pictures of the bodies burning in an open-pit in the camp. Other photos showed the area where people undressed before entering the fictional showers. Because of the information and photos that were smuggled out, the Allies gained knowledge of what was taking place in Aushwitz.     On December 26, 1944, the vicinity of Birkenau and the SS hospital. 5 SS was bombed by the Soviet Airplanes. This airstrike was considered a huge success because of the severe damage of the plant. There is a ton of controversy over why the Allies refused to bomb Auschwitz, considering they knew what was taking place on the camp grounds. The US stepping in created a big difference and contributed a good amount of help to the situation.
