    Auguste Comte invented positivism and this was a movement in physiology which was a huge accomplishment amongst scientist and carved a path of knowledge that we use today. We commonly even use it in regards to politics. One of his most famous and important writing is the Course on Positive Philosophy that has about 4 volumes containing a lot of knowledge on positivism in the philosophy of science. This book basically classifies 3 stages of science and explains positivism.
